Terms of Use

Effective Date: July 1, 2026

Welcome to MAE.

MAE is built to make discovering local easier. Whether you're looking for a farmers' market, food truck, boutique, farm, maker, service provider, or local event, MAE helps connect communities with the people and places that make them unique.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you ("you," "your," or "User") and Explore MAE ("MAE," "we," "our," or "us") governing your use of the MAE mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

By downloading the MAE app, creating an account, browsing listings, submitting content, registering a business, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using our Services, you agree to these Terms.

By using any of the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you are not authorized to use the Services and you must cease all such use immediately. We reserve the right to change these Terms from time to time. Users of the Services are advised to refer back to these Terms periodically to review any changes we may make from time to time. You will find the date these Terms were most recently updated at the top of these Terms.

1. About MAE

MAE is a location-based discovery platform designed to help users find and support local businesses, entrepreneurs, farmers markets, community markets, and local events.

MAE is not a retailer, marketplace, broker, delivery service, employer, agent, or reseller of the businesses listed on the platform.

Businesses listed on MAE operate independently and are solely responsible for the products, services, information, events, and experiences they provide.

MAE does not complete transactions between users and businesses unless explicitly stated within the Services.

2. Eligibility

To create an account, you must be at least 18 years old.

Users between 13 and 17 years of age may use the Services only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

By using MAE, you represent that you have the legal authority to enter into this agreement.

3. User Accounts

You agree to:

  • provide accurate information
  • maintain current profile information
  • protect your password
  • immediately notify us of unauthorized access

You are responsible for all activity occurring under your account.

Accounts may not be transferred without MAE's written approval.

4. Location Services

MAE uses location information to help users discover businesses and events nearby.

If you choose to enable location services, you authorize MAE to:

  • display nearby businesses
  • recommend nearby markets and events
  • improve search results
  • personalize your experience

Location permissions may be disabled at any time through your device settings, although some features may become unavailable.

Your location information is handled according to our Privacy Policy.

5. Business Listings

Entrepreneurs may create a public business profile through MAE.

Business owners are responsible for ensuring that all listing information remains accurate, including:

  • business name
  • location
  • contact information
  • hours
  • photographs
  • social media links
  • websites
  • categories
  • descriptions

Business owners represent that they own or have permission to use all submitted content.

MAE may remove or edit listings that violate these Terms or Community Guidelines.

6. Subscription Services

Creating a personal user account is free.

Entrepreneurs may subscribe to premium business plans that enhance their public profile and visibility within the Services.

Subscriptions automatically renew monthly until cancelled.

Subscription billing is processed through the Apple App Store and any future supported payment platforms.

Subscription pricing, features, and availability may change from time to time.

Unless required by law, subscription fees are non-refundable.

7. User Content

You retain ownership of the photos, logos, descriptions, videos, reviews, comments, and other content you upload.

By posting content, you grant MAE a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display, reproduce, distribute, promote, and use your content for operating and marketing the Services.

You represent that your content:

  • belongs to you
  • does not violate any law

MAE reserves the right to immediately remove any listing violating these Terms.

10. Selecting Favorites

MAE allows users to save businesses, markets, and events by marking them as Favorites. Favoriting a listing helps users quickly return to businesses they enjoy and may also contribute to publicly displayed popularity indicators within the Services.

The number of Favorites associated with a business, market, or event reflects user engagement and is not an endorsement, certification, or recommendation by MAE.

Users may not attempt to artificially manipulate Favorites or engagement metrics through automated systems, fake accounts, purchased interactions, or other deceptive practices.

MAE reserves the right to investigate, adjust, remove, or disable Favorites or engagement metrics that we reasonably believe have been manipulated or obtained in violation of these Terms.

MAE may modify, add, or remove social engagement features, including Favorites, at any time as the Services evolve.

11. Intellectual Property

All MAE trademarks, branding, logos, software, graphics, designs, and technology remain the exclusive property of Explore MAE.

Nothing within these Terms transfers ownership of MAE intellectual property.

12. Third-Party Services

Business listings may provide you with links to third-party websites, social media platforms, third-party materials or access to third-party tools and reference sites over which we neither monitor nor have any control nor input. You acknowledge and agree that we provide access to such links, materials, or tools "as is" and "as available" without any warranties, representations or conditions of any kind and without any endorsement. We shall have no responsibility or liability whatsoever arising from or relating to your use of these third-party websites, materials, or tools or any purchases or use of goods or services offered therein. Any use by you is entirely at your own risk and discretion. You should ensure that you are familiar with and approve of the terms associated with such third-party websites or tools. Complaints, claims, concerns, or questions regarding third-party websites, tools, materials, products or services should be directed to the third party.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the fullest extent permitted by law.

MAE makes no warranties or representations, express or implied, regarding the Services, including any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, or availability.

We do not guarantee that:

  • the Services will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free;

  • businesses, markets, or events listed on MAE will remain open, available, or operate as described; or
  • any defects or errors within the Services will be corrected.

MAE is a discovery platform. We do not verify, inspect, endorse, certify, or guarantee any business, entrepreneur, market, event, product, or service listed within the Services.

Your use of the Services and any reliance on information obtained through the Services is entirely at your own risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

14. No Endorsement

The inclusion of a business, market, event, or entrepreneur within MAE does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, certification, or guarantee by MAE. Search results, featured listings, popularity indicators, or Favorites are provided for informational purposes only and should not be interpreted as an endorsement of any business or its products or services.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MAE shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, or special damages arising from use of the Services. MAE's total liability shall never exceed the greater of:

  • your content
  • your business listing
  • your violation of these Terms
  • your violation of applicable law

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms, applicable law, or the safety of our community.

You may cancel your account at any time.

Certain provisions of these Terms survive termination.

18. Arbitration

Except where prohibited by law, disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

Users waive any right to participate in class action litigation.
